Tecneum - Technical Museum.
Establishing the Tecneum, the committee on the cultural values of technology 2005 has created the first virtual South Tyrolean museum. Since its inception in the year 1996 the committee was intent upon intensifying an awareness of technical monuments in our region by way of conferences, exhibitions and events. The technical museum Tecneum relates to these aims. In its virtual exhibition spaces you can visit South Tyrolean historical technical objects. Under the heading "Collections" important historical feats of engineering from the realm of mining, road construction, power plants, railroads, mountain track and cable railways and means of communications are described. A special segment concentrates on pioneers and their discoveries. Under the heading “Technical mile” a map is used to project a geographical tour. In the segment "Projects" individual monuments and themes are shown from different scientific aspects and offer rich information to interested people. Clips from newspapers and newsletters inform about current local events. Starting from the virtual site, it is easy to plan a comfortable visit to the cultural sites of technology.
