Wine.
The commercial contacts made by Ligurian sea traders
led to the cultivation of a variety of vines: at
the beginning of the twentieth century there were
over six hundred different kinds. Some of the authorised
and recommended species of vine are marked to be
included in the production areas of superior-quality
wine, and there are also many authorised geographical
areas for wines that are less well-known but classified
as "local". These have the bouquet of
the sea and the local flora and are an ideal accompaniment
for local specialities, distinguishing themselves
for lightness and genuineness. There are many wines
that have already obtained the "DOC" seal
of superior quality: these will be mentioned according
to the production area. Besides DOC superior wines,
there are other local wines, such as Barbarossa,
Buzzetto di Quiliano, Coronata, Sarticola, Albarola,
Chiaretto del Faro, Portofino, Polcevera, Moscatello,
Rollo, Ciliegiolo and Monfrà.
