The Mountain of Potenza.
The fourth ridge could be said to begin at Toppo di
Castelgrande (Pescopagano) and runs as far as the
Pollino, on the borders with Calabria. Halfway we
find Potenza, which is the region's capital and the
highest in Italy (819 m) with the mountains of Rifreddo
and Sellata fully equipped with skiing facilities.
The surroundings still boast expanses of dense woodland
with turkey oaks and beeches, and holly with grassy
fields of ‘stellina odorosa’ (scented
starlets).
