Balvano.
Small village in the Sele Basin, it was seriously
damaged by several earthquakes. The latest earthquake
in 1980 caused the destruction of many buildings and
a big part of the village had to be built again.
In the old centre there is the Castle of the Girasole
earls. Built in the X century, it was seriously damaged
and is now being renovated, but unfortunately very
little of its ancient structure remains.
The S. Antonio complex includes the Church and the
Convent, with a frescoed cloister and entrance.
In ‘Corso Garibaldi’ there is a fountain
with a washtub, built at the beginning of the XX century.
