Churburg
castle.
The Churburg castle is one of the best preserved castles
in South Tyrol. It was built between 1253 and 1259
from the Bishop of Chur, Heinrich von Montfort, was
taken in possession by the earls of Matsch 50 years
later, and since 1504 after the death of the last
"Matscher" it is in possession of the Trapp
familiy, where it lives even today in the summer months.
From the renaissance time is the arcad gallery with
the loggia. The columns are Göflan merble, no
one is equal to the other. You can also see a genealogical
tree of the earls of Matsch and Trapp. On the walls
are tales of Aesop. The highlight is the armament
chamber with armaments in the familiy possession and
is one of the largest in the world.
