Valli
Giudicarie e Terme di ComanoLomaso.
Lomaso consists of many hamlets with its municipal
seat established in Campo Lomaso. Its territory covers
the area between the brook Duina, the River Sarca
and Mounts Casale, Mison and Cogorna forming a wide
hollow surrounded by green meadows. Its typically
agricultural villages are built on moraine terraces.
Being a recent settlement on the valley floor, only
Ponte Arche is an exception.
The economic activities are mainly agricultural with
cattle breeding as the most important.
It is worth visiting in Campo Lomaso the monastery
of the Franciscan Friars built in 1700 where the poet
Giovanni Prati was born in 1814.
Due to its location, from Lundo it is possible to
enjoy a wonderful view of the valley, the Brenta range
and of Mount Adamello.
From Vigo Lomaso or Dasindo the Val Lomasona can be
reached. This is an important "biotope",
an environmentally protected marshland of important
natural, cultural and scientific value.
VIGO LOMASO: The ancient parish church of S. Lorenzo,
the oldest in the Valli Giudicarie and dating back
to 1205, is worth mentioning. With its precious 13th
century portal, this church represents the main element
of a larger complex of Pieve del Lomaso, which includes
also the baptistry, the rectory and the cemetery.
The church of S. Silvestro, dating back to 1400, is
situated on the road to Lundo. Inside there are a
number of beautiful frescoes (the church is closed
to the public; please ask the priest of Lomaso for
permission to visit).
DASINDO is the home village of the poet Giovanni Prati
whose family house (16th century) is situated on the
left side of the road leading to Fiavè and
has a commemorating park.
