Ronzo-Chienis is the main village of the Valle di
Gresta, situated near to the top of the Bondone-Stivo
chain and giving the appearance more of a wide terraced
amphitheatre rather than a valley because of its famous
cultivation of natural products. Given the relief
of the valley and the positive influence of the Garda
micro-climate the people of this area became farmers
and they were the first, in the North of Italy, to
adopt the innovative techniques of organic farming
with the aim of safeguarding their health and environment.
Even today they cultivate vegetables such as cabbage,
celery, potatoes, leeks, onions and savoy. The mild
climate and the healthy air and consequent therapeutic
effects represent a great advantage for the local
tourist industry which favors contact with nature,
long walks in the forest of Bordala, the ascents on
Mount Stivo, the visits to the ancient stone villages
or to the ruins of the Castello di Gresta.
A number of small churches in the several villages
of the valley are worth visiting, such as the churches
of St. Anna and St. Agata, while the old deserted
village of Corniano, the ruins of the ancient Nomesino
Castle and the Pannone archaeological area are also
of interest. From the short walk across the plain
of Bordala, to the ascent to the Mounts Creino, Biaena
and Stivo with a breath-taking view of Lake Garda.
It is also possible to enjoy sports in the many facilities:
tennis, bowls, paragliding and rock climbing.
