Rovereto,
Vallagarina e Altopiano di BrentonicoMori.
This old village of ancient origins is documented
for the first time in 845; in the neighbourhood there
are remarkable prehistoric areas (Corno, Caverna del
Colombo - Dove´s Cave, Monte Albano hillfort).
It is a quite important agricultural, industrial,
commercial and crafts centre, particularly renown
for its wines (Merlot, Marzemino, Casteler and Cabernet).
The most interesting monuments are: the parish church
of Saint Stefano with Ghibelline-cusp bell tower made
of fired brick from Verona with two rows of Romanesque
mullioned windows. Difficult to date, it was documented
for the first time in 1180; modified in the 18th century
and in 1873. In the historical centre it is worth
naming the principal square with the fourteenth-century
rectory, the Bronze war monument and the eighteenth-century
Palazzo Salvadori. The rural-elegant architecture,
the via Teatro with the Theatre G. Modena dating back
to 1791 and the most ancient quarter called "Mori
Vecchio" are particularly characteristic.
Worth visiting near Mori: - Madonna di Monte Albano
(306 m): twenty-minute walk along a prepared track.
There stands an old church dating back to 1567 with
churchyard, an old well, big illuminated clock on
the bell tower and hermitage; near the church you
can find ruins of the eleventh-century Albano Castle
that belonged first to the d´Albano and then
to the Castelbarco families and was destroyed by the
Venetians in 1439. - Church of Saint Biagio: entering
Seghe village from the state road the bell tower and
the ruins of the church are preserved dating back
to the eleventh century or maybe earlier. - Castel
Corno in the South of Mori Vecchio (Old Mori): ruins
of medieval walls of the twelfth century.
