Piné
e CembraSegonzano.
Segonzano is the name of the area on the large western
and north western slopes of Dosso di Segonzano and
Ceramont, the mountains dividing the Cembra and Pinè
valleys. There are 15 hamlets, situated in very different
environments, but usually on fluvial-glacial alluvia:
from Quaras at an altitude of 1,000 m, on the mountain
side, to the 500 m of Prà at the bottom of
the valley. Sevignano is to the south and Gresta to
the north-east. Gaggio is in the valley of the Rio,
Valcava in that of Rio Brusago, Quaras and Gausaldo
in that of Rio Regnana, all of which are human settlements
established along the traditional routes between Pinè
and the Valle di Cembra. Vines are grown in the lower
part of the township, on the sunny slopes towards
the Avisio river. Moderately developed are the industry,
trade, wood processing, sculpture and artistic crafts
sectors.
After crossing the Rio Regnana stream, the road proceeds
along the right side of the valley, by-passing the
rise bearing the Trinità church. Scancio extends
along the provincial road and hosts the Municipality´s
essential services. Below the provincial road there
is Saletto, the votive church of S. Rocco, and Teaio,
while further down, among the vineyards close to the
Avisio, there is Pra. Above there are the towns of
Sabion, Stedro and Luch, connected to the provincial
road by a road that climbs up the southern slopes
of the Dos Venticia. At Sabion starts the road that
leads to the Madonna dell´Aiuto sanctuary; the
old section in Stedro is quite picturesque thanks
to the series of long porches. THE EARTH PYRAMIDS
The scenic effect that Segonzano´s Pyramids
offer is breathtaking, with their organ pipe columns
crowned with boulders that tower over the thick vegetation
that surrounds and protects them. RUINS. In Segonzano
there still remain the ruins of the castle destroyed
by Napoleon´s troops and the features of which
Albrecht Dürer portrayed in a famous painting.
Close to the ruins runs the European Path E5 that
also connects the town with the earth pyramids.
