Castel Belfort, the Franca Court and the small San Vigilio church serve as convincing evidence of organized civilization beginning from the Middle Ages. Guided by the model of agricultural economy halfway up the mountain, the community of Spormaggiore, after having experienced times of suffering and emigration, is dedicated today to the cultivation of orchards and is enjoying a period of prosperity. Several small and medium sized artisan businesses have their seats here. In keeping with the past and out of a certain pride in their ancestry the people of Spormaggiore have completed remarkable restoration work of the Franca Court. Attention and care have also been dedicated to Belfort Castle and important restoration has concerned the Gothic San Vigilio church, now a national monument.
