From Pergine a charming road leads gently up the western
side of the Valle dei Mocheni until it reaches the
village of Sant´Orsola Terme. Within the numerous
and characteristic villas spread across the gentle
sunny slope of the village there are lots of holiday
apartments, rented out in summer and winter. Accommodation
in hotels is also available.
Many of the ancient paths have become prepared tracks
for walks or mountain bike excursions. The tour of
the masi alti (mountain farmhouses) starts from the
center of the village and winds past the most characteristic
ones in the village; the walk along the Fersina river
leads to the old sawmill, the ancient mills and one
of the oldest mines in the valley. There is also a
park on the banks of the river, with little beaches
where you can spend fresh summer afternoons in the
shade of firs and larches. A scenic path leads off
from the church in the nearby hamlet of Mala and takes
you up to the beautiful woods in the Parquagn area
and the fields of Mas del Dos. The center of Sant´Orsola
is the starting point of the path which runs up to
Malga Pèz and Malg Cambroncòi at around
1,700 meters, an ideal place for summer picnics and
ski mountaineering in winter. It does not take long
to get to Monte Costalta from the alpine hut and here
you can enjoy an incredible panoramic view of the
whole valley.
