Wine
TrailsMontespertoli.
Given its climate, soil and exposure to sun, the area
of Montespertoli is ideal for wine-growing; in fact,
1,400 hectares of the approximately 1,600 devoted
to wine-growing are DOCG. Annual production of grapes
is 19,000 quintals and wine production is 140,110
hectolitres, of which 91,152 are DOCG.
Production of Chianti is the main aim of our producers,
using traditional Tuscan procedures which give the
wine greater freshness, liveliness and roundness of
taste. A Chianti that is more appropriate for ageing
is created by selecting suitable grapes - this is
given the "Reserve" status and is much requested
by the most demanding consumers, especially abroad.
It will be necessary in the future to replace old
vines with other traditional cloned vines in order
to attain even finer quality, especially since this
area has now been recognised as a sub-zone, "Chianti
Montespertoli".
