Versilia.
Versilia stretches between the Apuan Alps and the
sea, between Lake Massaciuccoli and the mouth of the
Cinquale river, with over 20 km. of fine sandy beaches.
It includes the municipalities of Camaiore, Forte
dei Marmi, Massarosa, Pietrasanta, Seravezza, Stazzema
and Viareggio. The climate is temperate, due to the
bulwark provided by the Apuan mountains: on average,
there are 270 days of sun per year, with temperatures
of 24.5° in the summer and 9.4° in the winter.
The accommodation available ranges from hotels of
all categories, mountain refuges and numerous holiday
homes, satisfying all needs in summer and winter.
Sports activities are possible all year round, as
are trips inland to the hill and mountain villages
or the Antro del Corchia, and visits to the celebrated
cities of art such as Lucca, Pisa and Florence, which
are easily reached via public transport. Visitors
can also simply enjoy a relaxing walk along the seafront,
where the shops offer the most prestigious designer
names of Italian fashion. Cultural, leisure and international
sporting events are also held throughout the year
in Versilia.
