SpasAbetone Pistoia.
Abetone is the most important resort of winter sports
of central Italy. It is known and appreciated all
over the world not only for the beauty and rigour
of the slopes, but also for the great champions, like
Zeno Colò, Celina Segni and Vittorio Chierroni
that praised its name to the skies. Efficient climbing
plants and a wide range of offers as regards the receptive
structures are the common denominator of Abetone,
Cutigliano, San Marcello Pistoiese and Maresca. The
State forest full of firs, larches, Scotch firs, ran
along by alleys and paths make of this area a privileged
destination even for the summer holiday. Pistoia takes
character and nobility from the monuments and works
of art, which the town was endowed with during the
municipal age and the Renaissance. Very interesting
is the historical center with the Cathedral (here
is kept the precious Dossal of San Jacopo), the Baptistery,
the mighty church tower, the Town Hall and San Giovanni
Fuoricivitas (sculptures of Giovanni Pisano and polyptych
of Taddeo Gaddi). The famous pulpit of Giovanni Pisano
is preserved in S. Andrea's church.
