The Pistoian Appenine.
The snowy mountains. A vision of snow-white peaks,
a promise of gentle descents, and the certainty that
you will go home with indelible memories
Spellbinding scenery all year round, dense in history,
jewels of nature, the deep silence of valleys broken
only by the flowing of streams. Ever splendid secular
forests, magical when covered in snow. Snow... there
are any number of stories linked to these mountains.
How many champions have been born zigzagging on the
white carpet of the challenging slopes of Abetone.
And how many feats, large and small, are undertaken
by ski-lovers year after year. These extraordinary
events are experienced over and over in the living,
changing nature. Being allowed into this world is
the highest of privileges. The emotion of the sun
filtering down to your walk through the woods looking
for mushrooms or carefree walks in the open air with
the perfume of colourful fields in flower. But also
the passion of a descent through the pines, the joy
of cross-country skiing.
However you want to experience it, you just have
to respect the laws of the mountain. If you listen,
the mountain will have a lot to tell you. It will
show you its beauty, the splendour of its glistening
heights, prisms of light under the sun. It will tire
you out, giving you a vague sense of danger when a
cold wind whips across your face with snowflakes transported
by angry gusts of wind. You will without doubt experience
exhilarating hours moving in the open-air, with the
effort of breathing in this immensely pure air.
There is so much to learn from these stupendous connecting
valleys! There are so many opportunities to put things
right in your mind. Rediscover mountain traditions,
communal dinners, spontaneous and relaxed socialising,
pure and healthy enjoyment.
You will be able to listen to your emotions and measure
your reactions in another dimension. The detachment
from everyday life will help you to understand your
usual frenetic activity. And as ever, you should carry
on listening and nature will have many more things
to tell you.
