The Maremma.
If you attempt to cross it, from Capalbio, protected
among the woods, to Follonica with its ironworks,
from the Argentario, with its Spanish fortresses,
to Castiglione della Pescaia with its simple life,
you will immediately realise that the Maremma coast
is not just any old place.
The same goes for the rest of the Maremma. Allow yourself
to be enchanted by an area which evokes the Etruscans,
ancient villages hidden among the hills, where the
grapes produce precious wines. Stop and enjoy the
scenery or immerse yourself in the unspoilt natural
beauty of the Maremma Park, with its herdsmen.
Long evenings and good food await you, if you are
patient enough to await the return of the fishermen
into the port of if you look for the excellent old
country cuisine, where traditions remain and the different
districts compete against each other, bringing to
mind Medieval contests. And allow yourself a pleasant
cruise among the islands under the summer sunshine.
There's no hurry.
