Litorale Pisano.
A complex and diverse land, where different, and often
highly diverse, conditions exist side by side, the
province of Pisa lies in a central position in both
Tuscany and the country as a whole. The world-renowned
art, monuments and landscapes of the area have led
to its vocation as a tourist destination, although
the province also has less well-known aspects, worthy
of discovery and enhancement, corners of a truly unique
area which have often remained in the background compared
with the predominance of cities such as Pisa or Volterra.
From the cities of art to the inland production centres,
from the sea to the mountains which separate and join
Pisa and Lucca, from the hills of Valdera, characterised
by an agriculture specialising in prestigious oils
and wine, to the mountain communities of the Cecina
valley which joins with the Livorno coastline, the
province of Pisa offers such a vast range of interests
as to lead to it justifiably being considered as a
compendium of national characteristics on a reduced
scale.
