Fauna Museum.
Fifty years ago, Simon Ratschiller's hobby was stuffing
animals and presenting them in their natural habitats.
Today his taxidermy has led to a unique collection
in South Tyrol which since 1972 has taken the form
of a wild animal museum that is open to the public.
In dioramas that reproduce their natural habitats,
350 types of local birds and mammals are on display
(from bears to the dwarf mouse and from the golden
eagle to the gold crested hen), many of which have
since become extinct.
