Castle Bruneck.
No matter which way you approach the town, you always
see the beautiful big castle which was built by
a bishop. It is situated on the easily accessible
hill above the town and looks down on the buildings
in the old part of the town as if it still had to
keep watch over the lives and safety of its citizens.
The main entrance to the castle is the southern
portal, which was once reached by drawbridge. The
inner courtyard of the castle: the stairs in the
half - round tower lead to the upper rooms. The
right wing houses the rooms for royalty, the left
wing houses the administrator's quarters, and originally
those of the servants too.
