DolomitesAlpe di Siusi - Sciliar.
There are regions on Earth which have been created
by Nature with special goodwill; often it is pure
chance that brings us to such a place, a place we'll
never forget and always keep in our hearts."
The Alpe di Siusi is not only the epitome of hiking
fun, but also a place where you can engage in the
most varied of sports. From mountain-biking to paragliding,
from lengthy forest strolls to adventurous mountain
ascents. Local culinary specialties like “Speckmarende”
(bacon-cake) and buttermilk will tempt your palate,
while religious processions and outdoor concerts
on balmy summer evenings will awaken more spiritual
and cultural feelings. And if it gets too hot for
you:” Water rats” and sunbathers can
cool off at the outdoor swimming pool in Telfen.
The Sciliar Nature Park, the oldest of the seven
Nature Parks of South Tyrol, amazes nature lovers
and hikers with its untouched landscapes and diversity
of flora and fauna. And its inhabitants, too, seem
to still cherish old-fashioned traditions of hospitality
and friendliness. So you might just get a spontaneous
invitation to come and take part in the season’s
harvest – after which you can cool off in
the laghetto di Fiè.
In the Prösels Castle, the best-preserved
and perhaps most famous castle in the region, you
can view the private chambers of an ancient nobility.
But it is also home to many a mysterious spot, like
the Hauenstein ruins, Salegg and Aichach. You can
relax to the plaintive notes of medieval and modern
ballads, and enjoy the tasty treats which the kitchen
and wine cellar have to offer. Or just for a moment
to watch the horses contentedly grazing against
a picturesque backdrop. In any event, you’re
sure to find what you’re looking for.
