SiracusaFerla.
This little town was rebuilt after the earthquake
in 1693 a little to the N of its original mediaeval
site.
Three churches stand in the same square: the Chiesa
Madre, rebuilt after the earthquake, the 18th c.
Chiesa del Càrmine, and San Sebastiano, which
gives its name to the square. This last church was
founded in the l5th c., and later rebuilt; the saint
is represented in a 16th c. wooden statue and in
the Martyrdom, a painting by Giuseppe Crestadoro.
The Chiesa di Sant' Antonio, also rebuilt in the
late l7th c., has a baroque façade and a
very complex central plan, with radial chapels and
an octagonal cupola; the interior is richly decorated
with stuccos and paintings.
