A feudal village, it belonged after 1410 to the Benedictine Monastery of Santa Maria delle Ciambre, now in ruins.

At a height of 718 m, on Monte Granara, at Crocefia, is the Sanctuary of Romitello, where the beautiful views towards Segesta and the Gulf of Castellammare amply reward us for the effort of the climb.
