MessinaAlì Terme.
The town originated from the hamlet of Antiddu,
which belonged to the commune of Sàvoca;
it developed because of the fame of its thermal
springs, a1ready well known in the 18th c. It became
an autonomous commune in 1910, with the name of
Ali’ Marina. Autonomy was revoked from 1928
to 1946, and in 1954 it assumed its present name,
which underlines its vocation as a seaside and thermal
tourist resort.
A round tower, on a rock sheer above the sea, marks
the entrance to the modem town.
