In 1299 Frederick Il of Aragon defeated Philip of
Taranto in the territory of Santa Caterina Villarmosa.
The town was founded in 1601 by Giulio Grimaldi,
Baron of Risigallo.
The Chiesa di Santa Maria delle Grazie (1605) is
at the end of Via Roma. The Chiesa Madre, founded
in the 18th c. and completed at the end ofthe 19th,
looks out over Piazza Garibaldi.
