The big motorway running parallel to the coast,
which follows the traces of the ancient Via Aurelia,
is the main regional traffic artery: from this road,
there are only three main motorway branches through
the hinterland to connect Liguria with Lombardy
and Lower Piedmont. The trunk roads, provincial
roads and municipal roads that make a network throughout
the territory are ideal for getting to know Liguria:
if you leave from the provincial capitals or from
other centres that have become communications nodes
over the centuries, it is quite easy to create itineraries
that can be covered in a day or two and allow you
to visit the various districts and valleys.
