Finalese.
Fourteen kilometers of coastline feature fine sand,
excellent bathing establishments, and stretches
of public beach for playing volleyball and windsurfing.
Blue reflections of the crystal clear sea lie below
the Finale rock: a great complex of calcareous cliffs,
perfect gymnasiums of rock that stretch from the
coast into the interior through vibrant green vegetation.
Parasailing and outings on foot or mountain bike
can be enjoyed just inland, where there still lies
a true Medieval jewel: Finalborgo, founded by the
Del Carretto marquis in the 1100s, which still today
displays intact the beautiful slate portals, the
period churches and villas, and lanes housing countless
artisans' shops where they work iron, glass, and
ceramic.
The traces of ancient history can be found throughout
Finalese: from the forts of its powerful defense
system to the Bay of the Saraceni, from the Roman
bridges of the val Ponci to the stone piers of Varigotti
that testify to the strategic history of this nautical
locale since ancient Roman times.
