Sant'Angelo le Fratte.
This village is situated on a hill overlooking the
Melandro Valley. It was originally called ‘Castrum
Sancti Angeli de Fratis’ and developed around
a Basil Convent.
The Church of Santa Maria ad Nives was rebuilt after
the 1694 earthquake. It has the layout of a cross,
with one nave and two aisles. Inside it, there are
a high altar in golden wood with floral decorations,
a Crucifix of 1726, some statues of the XVIII century
and a carved wooden throne.
In the Church of the Annunziata there is a group
of statues representing the Pietà, in a style
that reminds of the Dutch one.
Since 1971, in the cave of the old Basil Convent
there has been a permanent crib.
