Corleto Perticara.
This village has Angevin origins. As a fief, it belonged
to the Riario family and during the Bourbon domination
it was an active liberal centre.
Inside the village there is the interesting Main
Church of Santa Maria Assunta (1600). It has a two-floor
bell tower and a dome in Arabic style.
The only remains of the old feudal Castle are some
arcades that were used for the building of the ‘Palazzo
degli Uffici’, in ‘Piazza Plebiscito’,
also called ‘Il Fosso’, because it was
here that the moat surrounding the Castle was.
Near the village there is the Sanctuary of the Madonna
della Stella, who is celebrated on the second Sunday
in May.
This village is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves,
mountains and woods that create a picturesque landscape,
thus attracting the attention of many tourists.
